Phantom of the Opera lyrics...#0

Stupid question...I'm sure it's been answered here before, but humor me :)

When did they change a bunch of lyrics in POTO????

I saw it the first time about 8 years ago (I was pretty young, so I don't remember), but my parents were HUGE fans and the album was always on in my home growing up...I saw Phantom again the other night, and was surprised to see that a bunch of lyrics were different (Think of Me, Music of the Night and many others)

When did this happen? Just wondering...thanks!

Diana

The version now is different from the original one. All the songs have changes. Some of the changes have stuck others have not. I saw that most of the lyric changes happend around 1990 perhaphs earlier.
I think the only song that hasn't changed once is The Phantom of the Opera and The Point of No Return.
I could type up the new lyrics if you want them. Just PM me.

Thanks! I was upset that Raoul's part in "Think of Me" was different...that's my favorite part on the cast recording, lol.

Sandra Joseph is great! I was really impressed with her...and John Cudia is wonderful and just so gorgeous to look at...I also really liked Joelle Gates, she is adorable and I loved her little voice.

Hugh, of course, is amazing :)

A sad little story: Phantom was my mom and dad's "show" and my dad passed away three years ago, so my mother has pretty much shunned it. It hasn't played in my house since my father died, and my mom was worried about me going to see it since she figured I'd get upset. Of course, I LOST it during "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again"...but the seat next to me was empty in an otherwise crowded orchestra, so I kept imagining that my dad was next to me :)

Then the next day, my mom heard me singing and humming the songs and told me to put it in the CD player. I did, and the last words I heard her say before I left the house were "It's really good to hear this again..." She was crying, but I'm really glad I went to see it, and it was great to hear the music playing loudly in our living room again.

On a lighter note, my friend and I saw Carrington Vilmont's picture in the playbill (his understudy was on for the evening) and had to laugh...what a name for a Duke or something.

LOl what a nice story! I'm glad you had a great time.

Andrea: I absolutely can't stand the OLC cd. LOL I cringe when I hear the old lyrics etc.

Notmenotme,
Aww sorry to hear about your dad, thats cool that your parents liked it.
Phantom is a great show! I've seen it nine times already and never get tired of it!!
I haven't seen Sandra Joseph yet, shes good?

Phantess~ You don't like Michael Crawford or Sarah Brightman? Listening to it live is much better but the OLC is great to!

No NO I love Sarah and Michael....but HATE them in POTO. Honestly they do much better solo work. I loved Michael in DOTV. And I love Sarah's new CD.

Sandra is great. She's got a bit more opera too her, but you def. should go see her.
