Yaya! Thanks Rob!

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

The theatre is one of the most expressive and useful instruments for the edification of a country; it is also the barometer which makes its greatness or its descent. A theatre which is sensitive and well oriented in all its branches from tragedy to vaudeville can in a few years change the sensibilty of the people; theatre which has been destroyed, in which cloven hooves take the place of wings, can put to sleep an entire nation. A people that does not aid and encourage its theatre is moribund if not dead; the theatre which does not gather to itself the best of society, of history, the drama of its people and the genuine color of its landscape and its spirit, with laughter or tears, does not deserve to call itself theatre, but rather a place for that horrible thing which is called killing time.- Federico Garcia Lorca

Some people's cuteness is another person's hotness.

I think Mike is both cute and hot -- so muchso that he still looks gorgeous even in that ghastly outfit he's wearing (he usually has good fashion sense, what was he thinking? Maybe it was intentional.)

THANK YOU!!! No body else has mentioned it and it really is putrid. The shirt and tie are cute together. But the blazer?! No, no, no.

Yes, you're right. It's that striped tie with that striped blazer (although how anything could look good with that blazer is beyond me). I think the combined brightness of the tie and shirt is already cutting it close; the blazer just pushes it off the cliff.

I'm assuming (hoping?) that it's intentional, though. I've seen Michael wear some fine threads before -- maybe he's going for the "tacky chic" look.

okay I am to edit what I said, because it was incredibly dumb of me and say this instead
I keep hearing pudgey and michael in the same sentance; I think the boy is fine the way he is, since when is it the norm in the theatre community to be toned and lean? Also even though I'm not a fan of the shirt and tie (maybe it's because I love him in his cute vintage tees and blazers, esp. that one in the pic) it's his voice, personality and amazing ability that get to me everytime. I only wish I had postponed moving to New York two weeks so I could of seen him in Pippin back home. I really hope a cd comes out of that production.
Also I am now quite interested in hearing the little boys voice everyone keeps gushing about. I really hope they do a revival of this out here in NY, or that Michael comes back soon and does something so I can get to experiece his voice in person.
btw: where was big river done, here in ny? are there any pics?

Nice Pic! I didn't know Jean Louisa Kelly was in the show. I saw her in the movie Mr. Holland's Opus and thought she is very talented. I hope she does more theatre work.

Michael looks a lot different in the public setting. I met him at a private party and he was very low key and rather shy, yet still polite and friendly. But you wouldn't notice him in the crowd though. I wish I could have seen him on the stage.

Does Steven Schwartz look incredibly plump to anyone else? Has he always been this way? His headshot makes him look like a gym-freak what with his pose over his bicep.

I thought Michael's outfit was great! Of course, only a really really attractive man can pull off an ensemble like that. Lucky for him, he is!

Poor Michael. He's been called "pudgy" and a terrible dresser all in the same week.

that which we call a rose by any other name would still need diet, exercise, and fashion sense. or else we'd just start to call it Michael Arden.

Agree that Michael looked great in that outfit, as he would look in anything. (I was going to say "in or out of" but that would have been tacky.) Seriously, Michael is so lovely in every way that even a few pounds heavier or dressed in a mix-and-mismatch outfit he still is quite perfect. And did you all read the amazing reviews he got for Pippin. Unanimous raves and predictions of stardom for the boy!
