I love me some Orfeh and she always winds up stealing any show she's in. This should be a no brainer. (She also did some "pitch perfect" crying on cue on a Law and Order I caught recently). This is an interesting hodge-podge of a cast. Hensley is great and friend of mine who saw Wayne Wilcox in Piazza in Chicago said he was absolutely robbed of the role when it transferred. I hope Kaitlyn Hopkins surprises me. She really caught my eye in Bat Boy, but I thought she was dreary in Bare. Anyone catch her in the much maligned, On The Record? And lets hope Linda Hart has some funnier material than she was given in Hairspray. Anyone besides yours truly sit through the looooong version of Baltimore Crabs in previews? Not pretty at all.
Orfeh will be amazing. Her voice can do anything.
This show got great reviews at NYMF, so no doubt it will be even better with this cast.
I'm still excited about getting a recording with Orfeh on it.
Melissa Errico fan, I wouldn't expect someone with your name to like Orfeh. That's probably a compliment to her. I still shudder at the memory of Errico trying to sing pop in Dreckula. Give me Ms.Orfeh any day over Errico's warbling.
I think you're being a wee bit prententious today, Al Dente, and a little more than a wee bit rude to both me and to Ms. Errico. But, if that's the game that you want to play, I'm all in. I simply prefer Ms. Errico's soothing, melodic, and angelic soprano to Orfeh, who's whine often reminds me of a fussy baby with gas. Just personal preference.
Errico fan, I must interject. Although I realize your tongue might be a bit in your cheek and appreciate disparity in taste, about the only thing one could NEVER say about Ms. Feh's singing is that it's "whiney". Are you sure you have the right person in mind? She might not be everyones cup of milquetoast and tea, but the sheer brilliance and power of her voice is undeniable. Nuff' said.
Ruprecht, I know very well who Orfeh is. I have seen her on-stage several times, and I can't stand her. That's my personal opinion. I find her to be whiney, pitchy and screechy.
Well then frankly, you either know her and have an ax to grind or lead in your ears bc that is SO far off the mark, it's laughable. And you most definitely did not see or moreover hear her in Love, Janis. But again, we both know what opinions are oft compared to...

I can tell you that I have never met Orfeh and have no axe to grind. I also find it very rude that someone would refer to another person's opinions as laughable because they differ from their own views. I know that I must sound like a broken record by now, but here I go again: PER-SO-NAL PRE-FER-ENCE. It's that simple. I've seen her in Footloose, Fascinating Rhythm, Saturday Night Fever and Love, Janis. I think that that would qualify me to make up my own mind about the woman.
MEF, I was really going to let sleeping dogs "lie" but either you are the luckiest theatre goer on the planet, an usher, a MUCH bigger Orfeh fan than you'd like to admit, or simply full of the brown stuff. Orfeh performed in Footloose for a total of one week as Rusty, so you're telling me, you just happened to be (un)fortunate enough to see the show during that time period? And you're also telling me you caught her in the extremely short lived FR, hated her so much, that you decided to see her subsequently in Fever as well as Love, Janis, even though you had about a half dozen (some incredible), other Joplins to choose from? How very interesting. Everyone should have detractors like you
