I wonder which show feels secure enough to spend enough money to buy that prime space...

Sad that there is another "American Idol" on out there (and that the Hairspray sign will soon go.)
Fabulous picture though! Looks great!

yikes. looks like i ignited a marquee discussion. i agree that the WSS marquee sort of does get lost in all the add space. but it looks cool in person. maybe it doesnt translate well in photos?

i know how many of you enjoy seeing photos of broadway houses. i actually started photographing them a few weeks ago. just for fun. on my way home id snap a few photos so i could remember what new york looked like when i was living here.

if anyone wants to see any other houses, i have a few. hairspray, jersey boys, chicago, LM, hmmm... what else do i have? YF, a few others. I just pick them at random if I'm in the area.

Pab, sorry I didn't actually thank you in the post! re: Photos: 'West Side Story' Marquee

Your photography is top notch, and I am a huge fan. I've browsed your flckr before, and love the deep darkness you bring to your work. Very refreshing images!
How to properly use its/it's: Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...

Your photos are amazing! I love the Lunt Fontanne one, that theatre has great curb appeal to begin with but your photos makes it even nicer!

The only thing that annoys about the palace is how the awning part of the marquee curves, with every show that has been there, it annoys me to no end!

Excellent pics! Thanks for posting!

Maybe West Side Story will buy the ad space that Young Frankenstein and Hairspray are currently using?

NYC residents:

Did West Side Story end up using all three ad panels, like they show in the Broadway.com video, or is that photoshopped to focus the video on WSS/Karen Olivo?

That is photoshopped. Now they have a South Pacific ad on the left side of the Theater and a Chicago ad on the other side.
