Has anyone seen Dutch diva Pia Douwes as Velma Kelly in Chicago?
Is she any good?
shes not the best velma, but far from the wrost velma, but her act one finale is one of the most amazing things ive ever heard.

She's not spectacular, but she's not bad. Her Act One finale was a shocker! I was literally getting up to run to the restroom - it was my 13th time seeing the show, I knew how it ended - and I stopped dead to experience what was coming out of her mouth.
Pia has a nice singing voice, but her character loses a lot of its natural when she's obviously putting on an American accent. (A problem I noticed in the London production particularly.)
Dancing-wise, I thought she was really pretty good. I did notice they added sound effects to I Can't Do It..., her idea? She did a very nice job with the Hot Honey Rag, and stands up well next to Charlotte, the best-danced Roxie by far.
Like said above, not the best, not the worst.

Although she may be too refined for Velma, her dancing is first rate- Hot Honey Rag is superb-the girls are really together... and she and Charlotte seem to be having fun doin it...., the voice cannot be topped- and she is sexy- Brava!

You know.... I could actually see it. And I think I just might have to.
