For those planning to attend The Light in the Piazza in Toronto at the Canon (formerly Pantages) Theatre, July 24-Sept. 2nd, this final date in the currently scheduled year-long tour has been cancelled (at this point). Alas. So the Canadian premiere of the show is still to happen.
Wow, that's a large block of time to be cancelled. That's too bad. Will the tour close pre-maturely or will other cities be added as a result?

Actually, it isn't really a case of "pre-mature" - Chicago and Toronto were tour dates added to the original schedule. And in some sources, the two cities weren't even announced as part of the tour.
I don't think PIAZZA was ever confirmed. For one thing the Mirvishes are holding the Canon theatre for the open ended run of WE WILL ROCK YOU.
PIAZZA was rumoured to play Toronto later this summer but if the Mirvishes were bringing it in they could put it in the Elgin or Winter Garden which would be a more appropriate size for that show. But they have never even mentioned it in any ads or press releases so I doubt it ever got beyond the discussion stage.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
