I'm luckily going to be working in New York (live in the UK) for a few days next month and will have ONE EVENING free to see a show!
My criteria is:
- nothing that's currently on in London or coming soon (hello Hamilton)
- something that I have a chance of getting tickets for in about a month without too much hassle - either in advance or while I'm there.
- something I can get a ticket for less than $200
Other than that I want to hear your recommendations! My interests and tastes are wide and varied!

If your one evening is a night that Donna Murphy is on in Hello, Dolly!, unquestionably that. Like, without a shadow of a doubt. Just do it.
Alternatively, Come from Away. Also fabulous.

I absolutely second the Hello Dolly sentiment. Donna Murphy puts on one of the most spectacular performances I've ever seen in theatre, and the rest of the cast is also too good to be missed. The production values are beautiful, and, overall, it's just a wonderful night out.

Thanks for the Donna tip. Is she in the show for a while?

I'll 3rd? Hello Dolly, such an amazing show. She does every Tuesday night and I believe a weeks worth of performances the first week of November. I'm too tired to look it up myself but I'm sure someone here knows offhand.

Jason Mraz starts in Waitress on November 3, if you like him.
Also, if you can inch your $200 limit to $229, you might be able to see Hello Dolly with Bette, depending on your dates.

Waitress? Come From Away? Miss Saigon? (if you're interested in it, this one isn't really popular around most people I've talked to)
If you want to see a show that's more of a Broadway classic, Wicked?
