I saw the Phantom movie yesterday, and i saw the show in london this summer. For some reason, probably because seeing myself in the role of Christine is beyond ridiculous, i've always enjoyed and respected the role of Meg Giry.

Do you think that this role was expanded or diminished in the movie?

The only instance i remember is in the beginning of the movie where Carlotta refuses to sing, and normally in the show Meg says "Christine Daae can do it, sir" but instead that had the other Giry say it. What was the reason for that? did it really matter enough to have to change who said the line?

opinions, please.

ive never been a fan of meg... in every cast i've seen, it seems to be just a girl who can dance and scream at the top of her lungs that gets the role (except for the last time in nyc... she was excellent). in my opinion, i think it was expanded. she got her own scene and there was more interaction between her and christine before christine was pulled out to sing think of me.

I saw the Phantom movie and enjoyed it. The main theme has haunted me since I saw the Sarah Brightman video in 1988 (I think). I loved the color, costumes and escapism of Phantom. I am also a fan of Minnie Driver and relished her in the role of Carlotta. Email me: jcolyer1229@yahoo.com
