Pirate Queen

I was so excited for The Pirate Queen... I think Martin Guerre and the Wuthering Heights ballet are Schonberg's best scores yet. But, when I heard the Pirate Queen samples, it just sounded like Riverdance crap, or the music that was thrown out of Riverdance. Am I wrong? Please tell me I am, because I was really looking forward to this.

It's early days yet. I think with Boublil, Schoenberg, and Block, it'll definitely be worth checking out.

How much have you heard in the way of samples anyway? I've only managed to gauge a certain degree of snippets off the website, just wondering if there's anything more out there. ^_^

First of all, the music in and/or even the music "thrown out of" RIVERDANCE is/was NOT "crap" as you put it, phantom8019. It was Celtic/Irish music

Second, as THE PIRATE QUEEN musical will be about an IRISH woman, I would suspect there will be some Jigs and Irish style music in it... Much like the music in the glorious RIVERDANCE.

Thirdly, Boublil and Schoenberg have yet to write anything bad. Methinks it will be fabulous.

Sorry, I guess I am not a fan of Celtic music at all. I know different strokes for different folks, but it truly makes me want to barf. I can't be the only one.
From the title, I had no idea it would have that music... now I know.

Oh and sorry for calling that type of music crap. I know lots of people like it. Personally though, I'd rather eat glass than listen to it, lol.

I could not disagree more. I just saw and heard the clips of the show and LOOOOVE what I hear! This is gonna be big. I LOVE the celtic score. It will definately add another dimension to the music found on Broadway today. I am SO thrilled that Stephanie J. Block is on this project!

This show sounds PERFECT to me: Les Mes is my favorite Broadway musical of all time, I am on an Irish clogging team and love the genre, and Stephanie J. Block BLEW me away in WICKED! :) Can't wait!
