I really like some of the cast, but hesitate somewhat with Foster's announcement. I normally like him and enjoyed him quite a lot in Happiness, but I can't quite picture him as the Baker. Though I think it will certainly sound nice, I just can't picture it. Like some others on here, I see Foster more as a Jack-type, despite the obvious age discrepancy. In fact when I read the headline I automatically just assumed it meant Jack, Little Red, and the Witch. A lot will obviously depend on who plays the Baker's Wife, as this is where so much of the joy in the play really resides and there is such an iconic image of what the role should be (not that the others from past productions haven't been memorable). This casting will also influence how well-received Foster is in the role, as I think this is one of the many places the most recent revival failed. So much of the story relies on the narrative of the Baker's journey and if you don't care for him and his wife a lot of the impact is lost. All in all, rather exciting line-up thus far and a big smile for Leavel in what will certainly be a tremendous perofmance.

Really? NO ONE else is pumped for Leavel as The Witch?
PiraguaGuy, the announcement of Beth as the Witch is what sealed the deal for me to return to Pittsburgh in 4 months! I live in Louisville, KY but have friends there, so getting there is a bit of a hassle.

No way! That WAS her! Awesome. Good to know she's still working. She was great and she was only 17, wow.
I can say I did hear of Brynn O'Malley as Baker's Wife...
But I guess since there's no official release I can't say for sure.
I'm thrilled about Beth Leavel, but then again, I'd go to see her in ANYTHING.

1) Carnegie Mellon doesn't have a dance program, just degrees in MT or Drama from their school of drama.
2) I went to Point Park and I interned with PCLO last summer. Basically how it works is that CLO will give you your card if you're doing a show with them. If you are just doing one show and aren't doing the entire season, you don't have to take your card and they will bill you as a non-equity performer in the program. This happened last year in Peter Pan. I'm not sure if this applies to children or not... I know a guy who was a lead in a CLO show when he was underage and he got his card. Maybe they DO offer them to the children? I have no idea.
3) Several of my friends and classmates were Equity, cards in hand when they graduated from Point Park. The University doesn't "hold" their cards until they graduate. They get their card and have an agreement with equity allowing them to perform in student shows at the University.
4) CLO owns part/if not all of the rights to Copacabana, therefore they don't have to pay royalties to do the show.
