Due to the potential of a local IATSE strike, the Pittsburgh leg of the Chicago tour has been cancelled. I don't recall hearing of tours being cancelled because of a local labor dispute. Big slam to the local economy; the Benedum seats around 3000 and, according to the paper, "ticket sales were brisk."
Ever happen in a city near you?
I'm in Pittsburgh, and while I heard about the possibility of a strike, they are still running ads for "Chicago" (at least they did on this morning's news)
I also heard there wasn't going to be a strike.
I love how rumors fly around---IATSE almost struck when Phantom came here for the first time, so I'll wait and see....

Wait and see the below-the-fold front page of the Tribune Review, or check Pittsburghlive.com:
"The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust on Monday canceled this week's scheduled performances of the national touring production of "Chicago" because of an unresolved labor contract with the union representing stagehands."
The article goes into some depth. Wish it were just a rumor...doesn't appear to be.

Yeah - they're probably afraid they'll go on strike in the middle of the run, i.e. set everything up and leave them all with no way to get it down.
It does stink, but in a way for me it's a blessing in disguise because now I won't be spending money I don't have on tickets. Shame though because I'm not that excited at all for anything else this PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh series. Ah well. Looks like more of my money will end up at the Pittsburgh Public Theatre again.

There are worse places your money could end up!
