Stephen Sondheim is to have a theatre named after him in London, funded by Cameron Mackintosh. Having run out of space to build theatres, they are building it on top of a block on Shaftesbury Avenue, in between the Queen's and Gielgud Theatres.

it figures it would be in the West End and not NYC. American anti-intellectualism is so strong! As always, a "prophet unappreciated in his own country"....

Actually the article says the SONDHEIM THEATRE will be on top of the QUEEN'S.....no surprise there, eh?
actually, from what I've heard, Sondheim on top is not how it usually happens. I could be wrong, it's just hearsay....

It looks more like it could be a regional theatre.
