If the cover art is in color (and most Broadway shows are) the Producer's ponied up for the upgrade. There is a "Ask Playbill.com" article if you google that tells you fare more than anyone cares. (Mostly about Stagebill vs. Playbill and Disney.

This just in...

"In an unprecedented move, President Obama is scheduled to meet with the UN Security Council today to stem what appears to be a growing and ever alarming shortage of Playbills in the midtown Manhattan area. In a statement to the press, the president said, "We cannot let this tragedy continue. I have directed Speaker of the House Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Reid to approve an emergency 4.7 billion dollar loan to bail out the obviously too-big-to-fail Playbill transport industry.

"German chancellor Merkel promised a shattering 8-billion-Euro loan as well, saying, "We cannot allow this to sweep across Europe like we did with the financial crisis. The time to act is now."

"Other world leaders have issued similar statements of fearful support. North Korea, once the most isolationist country on the planet, agreed to open its borders and renew friendly talks with longime foe South Korea "if only we can stop this tragedy from happening."

"GOP candidates, preparing for their scheduled debate hosted by Donald Trump, concurred with the president's plan — except for Newt Geingrich, who insisted that Playbills could be printed by schoolage children "to teach them the value of real work"."
