There have been many threads about what movies/books you think would be great with a musical adaptation. My question for you is, what straight play (Broadway or Off-Broadway) do you think would work well as a musical?

Off the top of my head I would say that NOISES OFF would make a great musical comedy if it was done right. I also think that Charles Busch should team up with Marc Shaiman and write a musical of THE TALE OF THE ALLERGIST'S WIFE. Done right, it could be amazing.

Ok, I know this is a book, but its also a play and this post reminded me of The Mahabharata. It would make a very dynamic musica. I would see it. Just incase people dont know The Mahabharata (pronounced as Ma-haa-BHAAR-a-ta) is an ancient religious epic of India. http://web.utk.edu/~jftzgrld/MBh1Story.html <---In case someone is more interested.
