Posted: 3/15/07 at 2:40pmI know this is way way way way way waaaay furture talking, but i was thinking today that Spring Awakening is one of those shows that should just remain a Theatre show. With this new movie musical phase going on, you know people have probably come across the idea. But there are already so many movies about the topics in SA that it wouldnt really be anything new to Hollywood. I think the fact Broadway hasn't seen anything like SA in a long time is what makes it special and should remain just as a Theatre show. Seeing it live is part of it's charm. Anyone else agree?

I doubt there could be an appropriate concept to make this work. Though you never know. If anything I see the potential for an MTV, Showtime, or HBO special type recording of the show itself. You know the way they did with True West, Dogville, or Our Town.
It could also get an "ALL STAR POP ALBUM" That might be fun. Ya know, major stars covering the songs. Like Kelly Clarkson singing Mama Who Bore Me or the guys from Linkin Park doing All That's Known... Could be fun.
Anyway to your original comment...probably never gonna happen.

If they could make a good movie out of Spring Awakening, then I think it's a good idea. It's great publicity - if people watch the movie and like it, they would probably want to see the show live. When I went to see Chicago and waiting to be seated, I heard a lot of people talking about how they loved the movie and were excited to finally see it live. Also, the majority of people do not go or have access to the theatre on a regular basis. There are a lot of shows that I watched through movies before seeing on the stage.
