Many years back, a play opened and 2 real deaths occurred in the leading ladies personal lives. I believe both of their fathers had died (or one's husband and the other's father). In any event, the older, more experienced actress told the younger actress that if she (the younger) could perform that night, so could she. They both did perform. The play was short-lived (no pun intended). I've Googled everything I can think of, and come up short. Does anyone remember this story and might recall the name of the play and/or the actresses?
Also, another play that had a family moving into a home, and at the end, it's revealed that the entire family is dead. This play I believe is more current, possibly the 90's.
Hopefully someone can help identify these plays. Thanks in advance.

there is a list of plays in the 90s, maybe you can narrow it down
the film, the others, sounds like the second thing you asked about
Definitely not The Others, unless it was a play. I saw that movie. Awesome film, btw. But the play was set with some sort of silk screen in front of it which at the end was lifted and that's when we found out they were dead.
I was also looking at that last you provided earlier. The only thing that struck a nerve was a play with Julie Harris called Voices. Just have to check to see the background of that show. Thanks for your help.

Well, Voices was originally titled The Others, and does have an ending revealing two of the characters as ghosts... so that may well be it.https://books.google.com/books?id=d9wff8u7w8kC&pg=PA29&lpg=PA29&dq=RICHARD+LORTZ+voices&source=bl&ots=pqJiXMMow6&sig=-XdNnwnDpv10KhU82HXdwUvKMxc&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0CGMQ6AEwDmoVChMI96Wvy4XFyAIVwlg-Ch2l_g22#v=onepage&q=RICHARD%20LORTZ%20voices&f=false

Then that might very well be the one. Also wondering if it's the same play regarding the first question. That would be too good to be true LOL Thanks again!
