Well, looks like you've won, darling.
You've hijacked this wonderful thread in which people were posting lyrics that reflected their joy and happiness and you've made it all about YOU.
Congratulations. And goodbye. I'm done with your inappropriate, attention-needy behavior.

A) You're unaware that the past president attempted to curtail certain civil liberties? That he called for a Constitutional amendment to guarantee that some citizens were denied rights guaranteed to others? But even leaving that aside, by your logic, praising anyone is automatically denigrating those who went before.
B)You can. You did. You are. Go right ahead. And those who don't agree can respond, correct?
C) Okay. Lincoln bad, Nixon good. Got it.
No one asked you to agree that Bush is an asshat.

All right, well zoraksferal is clearly a troll, so not worth any further comment that.
sondheimgeek - I do want to say that I respect your eloquence in trying to put forth your point - it's more than many who have been on this site and others have shown in trying to defend/support Bush. Why do you feel that all presidents DESERVE our respect and support? There are good presidents and bad presidents, why should we not demand anything less than the very best. No point rehashing all the old talking points, but it's fair to say that many of us on this board don't think Bush is WORTHY of our respect because he did a poor job as president. To many of us, Obama is a sign of hope that things will turn around, and all that we have been subjected to for the past eight years might be remedied. We've had so few days of celebration on a national level in the past decade (heck, name two...) that we want to enjoy the moment with the hopes that things WILL now get better.

You know what, you're absolutely right PalJoey. I've hijacked this thread and made it all about me. That was obviously my intention as I've stated in each of my posts.
Did I also mention that I worship the devil and secretly traded my soul for two tickets to Idinas final night in Wicked?
I simply felt insulting Bush on a thread about Obama's Celebration was uncalled for. So you're right PalJoey, I'm attention-needy and innapropriate. How dare I?
I'll admit it was a little out of line to speak up on this thread, but I'll take a tip from PalJoey himself. I was obviously immature and I should not have to deal with others who aren't immature.
So I'll leave this thread because I know it'll make him happy. It seems the only one who wanted the attention was the one who critiziced someone else of needing it. But thank you. I'll leave the thread and remove my "immature" self from it. I never made any accusations and never had to resort to insulting someone to feel better about myself. But if it works for you PalJoey, more power to you.

YEAH, well I'm taking this thread BACK!
Those smug little men
With their smug little schemes
They forgot one thing:
The play isn't over by a long shot yet!
There are heros in the world,
Princes and heros in this world
And one of them wil save us.
Wait and see!
Wait and see!
There won't be trumpets or bolts of fire
To say he's coming
No Roman candles , no angels choir,
No sound of distant drumming.
He may not be the cavailer,
Tall and graceful, fair and strong,
Doesn't matter just as long as he comes along!
But not with trumpets or lightning flashing
Or shining armour.
He may be daring, he may be dashing,
Or maybe he's a farmer.
We can wait,what's another day,
He has lots of hills to climb
And a hero dosn't come
Til the nick of time!
Don't look for trumpests or whistles tooting
To guarantee him.
There won't be trumpets but sure as shooting
You'll know him when you see him!
Don't know when, don't know where,
And I can't even say that I care!
All I know is the minute you turn
And he's suddenly THERE!
But not with trumpets!
There won't be trumpets!
Who NEEDS Trumpets?

Here's another from Berlin's MR. PRESIDENT,
Dedicated to Michelle:
I Shouldn't be complaining, I've got the same address
As Eleanor and Mamie, As Jacquelin and Bess.
My life is filled with glamour, I really think it's swell
Oh yes, I think it's wonderful, but then it's also Hell
Being First Lady of the land, the First Lady of the land,
Standing on the receiving line, winding up with an aching spine
Callouses on my receiving hand, as the First Lady of the land.
For every week a different hair-do, which means a another dress
Those meetings with commitees, and sparring with the press, Those dreary formal dinners, when I stay up till dawn,
Counting the silver when the guests are gone.
When they march out in single file, and I must smile, smile, SMILE!
I'd rather be the second or the third or the fourth of the fifth or the sixth or the seventh, instead of the First Lady of the land.
I'm the First Lady of the land, the First Lady of the land.
Entertaining at lunch or tea, Do-do gooders who call on me
Telling of the noble deed they plan, for the First Lady of the land.
And all the presents that they send me, An awful lot of junk
An unhousebroken poodle, a dehydrated skunk, A turkey for Thanksgiving, Potatoes in a sack, but when they send a diamond
I must send it back!
When the whole cabinet arrives, and bring their wives, wives, WIVES!
I'd rather be the second or the third, or the fourth, or the fifth, or the sixth, or the seventh, instead of the First Lady of the land.
I'm the First Lady of the land, a large staff at my command.
Cooks and Maids with their ears all bent, Hearing gossip that they invent, writing books that really should be banned,
On the First Lady of the land.
I run the White House on a budget, and often I'm in dutch,
and Congress starts to hollar: She's spending much too much,
The caviar and vodka, I always get for free,
It's given to me by the Russian Embassy.
We send fresh fruit to every land, but mine is canned, canned , CANNED!
I'd rather be the second or the third or the fourth or the fifth or the sixth or the seventh, instead of the First Lady of the land!
