Post-dating?

Anyone know what the real deal is on Post-dating at the Neder? The woman I spoke with said that you could call the morning of and see if they have any seats available. I asked her if they were post-dating tonight, to which she said no. Which is odd, as there seem to be plenty of seats up on Ticketmaster...
(If the whole policy is BS, anyone wanna free ticket to RENT tonight? LOL)

Posted: 1/17/05 at 2:28pmFor whatever reason, I always thought you could only post-date at the Nederlander for mid-week performances. But.. that makes no sense since they don't have Wednesday performances. Maybe they aren't tonight because it's a "special" performance? I would assume any performance that still has seats, they would allow you to post-date

Posted: 1/17/05 at 2:30pmJeremy (Roger) and Krystal (Mimi) have their last preformances tonight. The show was sold out yesterday, and they're probably expecting it to be today too, though I don't really know what post-dating is.

Posted: 1/17/05 at 2:36pmIt allows you to use tickets for performances that have passed toward another performance. So, if by chance, you can't use your tickets, you have the opportunity to use them and you don't have to eat the cost. It's subject to seat availability, and it's unlikely you would get the same seats that your original tickets were for, but at least you see the show and don't lose out. The policies differ depending on the theater, though. Updated On: 1/17/05 at 02:36 PM

If the ticket is for tonight (you are saying you have an extra ticket for tonight, are you not?), you can't post-date it now. The way to post-date is to wait until AFTER you've missed the show. Then you contact the theater the day you want to go and see if they have something available. It really means taking a chance that they'll have a ticket available when you want to go. You do have to wait until the last minute. (And probably want to check with the theater to find out their specific rules.)
If you have an extra ticket before the show, there are other ways to try to get rid of it. You can try to sell it. If the show is sold out, you can go to the box office and offer it up for the cancellation line (the box office will try to sell it for you). You can hang around outside the theater and see if someone is looking for an extra ticket.
Post-dating is only for after you've missed the show.
