Posters' Definition of Cabaret, Please

Since this board is made up of people who frequent several different types of live entertainment, I am very interested in what posters here define the label "cabaret" to be. Especially in light of the fact that we make up part of the "larger public" that is "aware that such a thing as cabaret exists".
