Based on what I have seen on the news, hamilton's prince tribute out shined the color purple's. I personally believe that TCP's was much more moving and heart filled.
Whole thread already covered this.

why does everything have to be xyz vs. xyz? what is it in society today that drives or compels us to always have conflict or two entities competing? what do we accomplish as people by doing this?? drives me crazy and is indicative of the state of politics in this country
JM226, your posts today are a bona fide godsend. Thank you for your refreshing commitment to reality and principle.
No need to compare. Both were special.

I too detest the constant comparisons and competition of shows, performances, etc. The criticism of everything is so tiresome and weighed down. Let's be thankful that 2 shows were inspired to pay tribute to a fellow artist that impacted their lives. Move on.
Why is it a competition? Two great shows gave great tributes to a legend.

What the heck. How is it a competition in any way? It's not like they were competing with each other. They were both just inspired to do something. I haven't noticed any really getting news coverage but if Hamilton actually did get more it might have been because it's the more popular show.

These should not be looked at as a VS. They were only meant to pay tribute to a great musical icon that we have lost. There is no "outshine"-ing to be done. Both of their tributes were made out of respect. It is not appropriate to compare two. I'm not mad at the OP, I just don't think that the VS thing is appropriate.

How did I know someone was going to feel the need to compare these as a way to try and bring down Hamilton? Really? Someone died. Let's not.
Both were very different and special and it was nice for the shows to commemorate him, as I believe he had been to see both shows recently. They both aimed to do completely different things and both succeeded. (Hamilton in the fun, celebrate his life way, TCP in the wow! factor).
