I actually saw something about this on that semi-religious debate programme on Sunday morning (the one with him off Watchdog). I think it mainly applies to comedians and broadcasters who actually convey prejudice through what they say. Alluding to homophobic and racist attitudes seems fine as it's no different from alluding to drugs, disease or crime. None of it's nice, but to deny their existence is silly. Theatre will be fine.
