HOUSE OF FLOWERS.

One of the most beautiful scores of the 1950s is welded to an awful and unfixable book.

Big fan of the Boys and of Closer to Heaven (which I admit took me a while to really appreciate). The playwright John Harvey (sp?) has now gone on record saying it's the worse thing he's writte3n--seeing as he's written some miserable bit so fCoronation Street etc I think he's a bit deluded :)

It's a shame that so many on here perpetuate mis-leading information about the quality of shows. Information that they got from a book and not personal observation.

CHESS hands down. This is an amazing show and if "the right people" were to get a hold of it and rework the book, not the music as it is wonderful.

Agree with Chess, though, as I have said, I sawnmit this week and it was a bit of a drag. I agree with Seussical and Jekyll and Hyde also.

Question for CATSNYREVIVAL: Which version of Whistle down the Wind were you on about, the ALW one? I loved the original London Production, but the revival at the Palace, which was really the tail end of the tour, wasn't great. The original set was so great, hard act to follow.
The rain we knew is a thing of the past -
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

Mack and Mabel. I saw it the day it closed on Broadway, and even though I was relatively young I was entranced by it. I know it's considered to have an terrible book, but I was moved by the story, the staging and the performances. And that score! Herman's best, IMHO.
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

Dracula
Little Women
All Shook Up(I don't know if you would consider it a problem show)

I agree about Lestat. It had so much potential and so many flaws, but I still loved it when I saw it.

Amour... The Music is great.. the book and staging? Not so much. The Civil War.. When I saw it on broadway I though it was GREAT I couldn't stop talking about it... it closed that next week. opps. Guess I was the only one.

Witches of Eastwick of course re: Problem Shows that you Love I love it dearly, but it has many flaws. Be intersting to see what Signature does with it...

Anyone Can Whistle. I love the score, but the book really is a mess. Unfocused and (now) dated, it could really use someone to come in and sharpen it up. But would that remove all the fun from the show?

HAIR certainly has some issues and moments of complete randomness due to drug induced writing, but I LOVE IT.

And I have to say, I found some of SCARLET PIMPERNEL quite enjoyable. Not all that satisfying as a whole show, but some moments were really rather good.
