Problems with 1984 Oliver?#1

I was on ibdb and saw that the 1984 production of Oliver last only 17 performances? I'm assuming it wasn't a limited engagement. Sorry to beat a dead horse if it'd already been discussed a lot (I'm having problems with the search function, but I think it's just my computer), but what went wrong?
