In yesterdays NY post some intersting tidbits about the movie
1. The King Of Broadway, according to Stroman , was cut because "I needed to get the story going" - How better to get the story going than a song that totally explains Max's life?
2. Cut in "Along came Bialy " The jewish American princess & her husband " Were they worried about what mid America would think ?
3. Cut from " I wanna Be A Producer " is the Old Man River line. Somehow it was OK on Broadway but un PC in the movies ?
4. In "Sprintime for Hitler " Hitlers kicks FDR off the stage - it is MIA from the movie . Is this so sacrilegious ?
5. "Where Did We Go Right" - Possibly cut for the line" There was no way we could lose/Half the audience were Jews". Who were they afraid of ?
It looks good in the trailers but these cuts were absolutely absurd

'King' sets the story... I was disappointed when I heard that it had been cut.

After listening to the soundtrack and seeing Old Man River cut I was upset. I love that part.
I can't discuss KING OF BWAY

A lot of the cuts don't make any sense, and I have already complained on these forms of most of them. But the guess that Brooks would cut certain things because they are un PC make no sense. He loves that sort of twisted humor, and loves that stuff despite what others may think.
Well, I guess we can all look forward to seeing the cut scenes on DVD.

I believe KING OF BROADWAY was cut because of the reception of two screenings:
One had the KING OF BROADWAY in it; one without.
The one without had a much better reception, and those who moderated it at the theater said the film had gotten the best audience reaction they could remember since FORREST GUMP.

Posted: 12/12/05 at 11:11pmIt was shot but according to Stroman it slowed the movie down . Kind of like saying Do Re Mi in Sound of Music was to cute & had to be cut to protect audiences from a sugar overdose.
