I was trying to be funny...sorry you didn't see that way...but don't worry we will both live through it...And I didn't attack your credibily just your wrestling picture and your sarcasm just as you attacked mine with your previous posts about the POOR PEOPLE OF HOUSTON. I also don't see what the length of your stay here has to do with credibility. I just purchased my first computer yesterday, so PLEASE FORGIVE ME for not being on here for as long as you. AND YES THE BUSINESS DECISION DOES DIRECTLY CONCERN ME - It means I will not ever see AVENUE Q. DIDN'T YOU READ MY POST? Also, martyr doesn't really fit what I was doing - I was playing the victim.
Actually I kept posting the same thing word for word over and over and over, way more than twice because SOMEONE kept deleting my posts apparently because of the titles I was using - many of which had BOYCOTT and SUCKS and F**K in the title...and lastly - are you really that touchy about wrestling? :) Even the Sondheim guy found my Sond. diss funny......but he did say it made him mad

It didn't really make me mad...just frustrated.
Alas, we Sondheim fanatics will always be cursed.

Especially now, with so little to be sure of....

Posted: 6/15/04 at 10:04pmWell, I'm sure a Sondheim show is the best show currently on Broadway...Assassins.

I believe you are right on that one.
And we all know it's better than Avenue Q. And why is that everyone? All together now, in harmony, because....AVENUE Q SUCKS!!!!
So do you think Assasins will tour? Or is that just opening up another can or worms.

Posted: 6/15/04 at 10:34pmIt's produced by Rounabout Theater....so it can't tour.

Well it COULD tour, but it would have to have a commercial producer finance it and negotiate a whole new set of contracts with Equity and the unions. Lots of shows that originated with not-for-profits have had tours.
The question is, given the subject matter, I'm not sure how many cities around the country would be hospitable to it.
#32re: Profits versus People
Posted: 6/15/04 at 11:19pmI wish it would. America needs Assassins more than "America needs Avenue Q".

If 'Avenue Q' 'sucks' why would you care whether it tours or not? Do you have an overpowering desire to see bad theater?
Oh, that's right you're doing it for all of us all over the U.S. of A. who won't get a chance to see theater that sucks.

"If 'Avenue Q' 'sucks' why would you care whether it tours or not?"
If you were adressing this comment at me...I don't think Avenue Q sucks...I think it is a highly enjoyable show.

"Avenue Q sucks", huh? Then please explain your outrage at not being able to see it. And why did the decision to not tour, which was announced after the tonys (a fact which you use agains the show) piss you off so much when you feel that the Anenue Q performance at the tonys wasn't any good anyway?
Furthermore, it's not just the midwest whose citizens have problems with edgier shows, i live in rural maryland and I can't see many people here being able to sit through a show like Assassins. That's a shame, mind you, but it's true. Q would have difficulties as well, and as was previously posted, if the producers are mad because they won't be making money off of a Q tour, that makes them the one's who weren't "voting with their heart". I think it is hillarius that "the little show that could" managed to scam the big producers who only wanted to make a buck, into getting them to hand over the big prize (a well deserved "Best Musical" title) and not tour, but rather opt to use a venue which could serve the show better, financially.
I say that if you're fired up enough to spend so much time posting about this here, then you wanted to see the show bad enough to hop on a plane to vegas. Oh but wait; you think the show "sucks" based on their tony performance anyway!
Hmmmm... the line of logic here has me somewhat confused...

Logan2, how many times have you posted this?
I think this is the third time I've read it.
Please stop posting it.
I have no desire to read your diatribe for a 4th time.

Posted: 6/16/04 at 11:39ami think there is a misunderstanding of the situation. they didnt tell the road theaters because they were worried about losing tony votes. they told the road houses that they were touring to get thier tony votes. once they got them thats when they cancelled out. it was a deliberate misrepresentation in order to get tony votes. i was not surprised, this sort of devious crap has been thier hallmark all along. they pulled crap just as devious since they started with rent. if you knew the way they handeled the 9/11 crisis or the wardrobe/props scam they tried to pulll over at ave Q then none of this would come as a surprise. to quote adam pascal when asked about kevin and jeffery, "they are the devil".
