Bump.
So I talked to the people about the letter and they've talked to Art's son, who said that he WAS friends with several Actors (such as Zero Mostel who he apparently roomed with) but He had never mentioned knowing Jerry Orbach. They believe that it was directed to Jerry Moss, from A&M records. Anyway, it was an interesting find and a fun little story but I think I'm going to donate it to them.

That is very cool that you found something in a thrift store that ended up being from a well-known person. I bought a used book once and it had a best-man wedding toast inside. It was very touching and I wonder how the marriage ended up.
It kind of makes sense that Art Kane would be gifting the Promises Promises LP and program to someone not affiliated with the show. Someone affiliated with the show would have that stuff already -- there would be no need for someone to give it to them.

Reading that about Zero Mostel nudged my memory a bit more. This is the copy of Playboy I have:
http://www.dtmagazine.com/cmopg1924/pb474.html
Mostel and Orbach appear in a pictorial called "Foreplay". The description at the link states that it is a "pictorial essay by Bruce Williamson", but Williamson was a writer, the film critic for Playboy, not a photographer. He probably wrote the accompanying text. (And this pictorial seems to be in support of a movie called "Foreplay" with these actors in it, but that's beside the point.)
A little more digging reveals that Art Kane did in fact photograph for Playboy. So maybe this is all related somehow? I need to try to locate that Playboy and see if Kane took the photos. I have the magazine because the original Larry L. King "Best Little Whorehouse" short story appears in it, a fact oddly neglected in the writeup on the link.
