Proud of Your Boy

I'm sorry to ask another random question, but where is "Proud of Your Boy" from..? It seems so familliar?
Johnny T. did it at his 2nd Ars Nova, so that's why I am asking.
And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.

re: Proud of Your Boy

Is it the song that was cut from Aladdin? Clay Aiken sang it for the DVD release.

re: Proud of Your Boy

Yes, it was cut from Aladdin due to a change in the story line.

The original story line, drastically different from the final film, had Aladdin's mother still alive and he sang the song to her.

The song is one of Menken/Ashman's most gorgeous ballads. It is a shame it never made it into the final cut. Many great songs were cut from Aladdin. (Call Me a Priness, Humiliate the Boy, Proud of Your Boy)
