Hopefully it will have a better fate than the previous attempt with Yul Brynner
1 performance - Palace Theater - Home Sweet Homer
I actually saw it & thankfully remember nothing of it other than Joan Deiner was in it.

There was also The Golden Apple, as well as Simon Armitage's fantastic play adaptation.

Hard to believe Mitch Leigh who wrote Man Of La Mancha wrote the music for it. The curtain fell & the closing notice was posted. They obviously knew they had a real gobbler on their hands.

I'm very excited. Todd Almond's music is absolutely gorgeous on Laura Benanti's album, so I'll be scrambling for a ticket when they go on sale (as well as LaChiusa's new show, with Mary Testa!). Very, very exciting news.

Why is it hard to believe? Mitch Leigh didn't exactly have the most illustrious composing career, save for MAN OF LA MANCHA.

True but MOLM is always thought of as a classic.
I agree he was not the most prolific of composers. I guess he had one good show in him. They probably felt they had a good calling card called Yu Brynner. He could not even save it. Some people have said the music was not to bad. We will never know

Leigh spent his final years trying to build some strange Stepford-esque community in South Jersey. The commercials were priceless.
Very excited for this production. Great creative team!
