Does anyone else feel that there should be a Playbill/Publicity Design category in the Tonys?
There is beautiful work done for these shows and I think there should be recognition for it.
My vote this year would go to In The Heights or or the Seafarer.

Posted: 6/11/08 at 10:14pmI think that would be a great category. But i still think there should be a Wig/Hair Design category.

Posted: 6/11/08 at 10:49pmI think they should be judged on design aspects such as forming an audience-appropriate design, visual balancing, historical and cultural correctness, and what simply looks good.

That would be akin to the Oscars giving out awards for teasers and other posters. Anyway I'm sure that in the other prevalent design awards given that the creators of Playbill/ broadway PR materials enter their work as do their Hollywood colleagues.
I do agree with wig/ hair design--barring it is not already considered in make-up/ costume design, which I think it may be. Does anyone know if wig design is adjucated under make-up or costume design?

No more new awards. We can't even fit all the current ones into the 3hr telecast.
Let the Tonys not become the Grammys.
