Though it would have been fun if they made mini stuffed ones to sell at the theater merch stand!

I would pay good money for Avenue Q glove puppet merchandise! It'd be AWESOME to take, say, Trekkie Monster to work one day and let him serve customers instead of me.
Mind you, my co-workers are still twitchy over the time I bonded with an Olivia fingerpuppet, so perhaps a full-on Q puppet would be bad...

Hi, folks, this is Rick Lyon. I have never said that I will "never allow mass-produced AVENUE Q puppets or dolls to be sold, " so I don't know where that notion comes from, Jon. In fact, I spent a considerable amount of time and effort in helping design toy versions of the Q puppets Princeton, Kate Monster, Rod, Nicky, Trekkie, Lucy, and the Bad Idea Bears, and I'd LOVE to have them out there earning me some royalties. We were supposed to sell them in Vegas. Mssrs. Lopez and Marx and our producers were slow to approve their designs, and after several rounds of prototypes, it was decided that they would test-drive the Trekkie toy first. Well, then it was announced that Q Vegas would be closing, so that put a stop to all that.
HOWEVER, 500 or so toy Trekkies WERE made, and distributed FREE to tour presenters at a big annual convention in NY this past May. Some of them have shown up on Ebay. And Cameron Mackintosh supposedly was going to give them out as opening night presents in London (don't know if that happened - I wasn't there). There has been talk about selling them in London if Q has legs there.
So that's the real story about that.

Will they have them for sale in New York City anytime soon. Mr. Lyon I saw the show with you in it and LOVED it. Do you think the entire OBC will do a show again like a reunion?

If only they made Kate dolls.
I would buy all of them. They really need to sell them in New York.
PS If any of those presenters has a desire to sell their Trekkie, please contact me. I would love to own one.
Thanks.
(I do think that Kate, Rod and Ricky should be the next ones to be made)

Posted: 7/27/06 at 4:10pmI know of no immediate plans to sell Q puppet toys in NY. I was told it is largely a matter of space - the merch area at the Golden is very small. I personally think it's crazy not to sell them - what would you rather have, a keychain, or your own Trekkie Monster?

I'll take the keychain. (I'm JOKING.)

What they said: hi, Rick! ^_^
Here's hoping that rumour about selling 'em in London pans out. There's got to be *something* good about being on this side of the Atlantic, surely. ^_^

Rick,
They need to make space. Who wants a keychain. Not me.
They need to make room. If you make them people will buy them.
It would make me very happy.
I think that all the characters would sell. I would personally want:
Kate
Rod
Ricky
The Bad Idea Bears.
Trekkie
In that order.

Posted: 7/28/06 at 12:19pmI would buy every single one of them, regardless of price. I would go online and buy a complete set this very second if they were available. Tell the producers, Jeff, Jeff, and Bobby.

Has anyone been to Avenue Q lately? Are they selling Avenue Q puppets in the lobby at the Golden?
Thanks -
