Now that the TONYS are over I'd like to make a suggestion.

No more posts on Q, WICKED, BOY FROM OZ, or ASSASSINS (and the performers in those shows). Unless of course there is something substantive, new, or novel, to add to the hundreds of threads and comments made in the previous 9 months or so.

Do you have an interesting and important fact about the show that no one knows and that you believe others really want to know?

Have you an insight into the subtext or motivation of the characters that hasn't been explored by anyone else yet?

Is there a musical moment that after much personal scrutiny you believe to be one of sheer brilliance that has gone unnoticed or commented upon?

If so, let's hear it. Otherwise, let's focus on the future and the many, many other shows that have played, are playing and will be playing on and around Broadway and the West End, plus the hundres of very talented performers associated with those shows.

CAROLINE and WONDERFUL TOWN are excluded because these shows have not been discussed to the same level as the other three. So there'll be a grace period.

Oh yes, being "new" the board is no excuse. There's a search feature where one can find and read all the posts on all of the above shows.

Do we have a consensus?

I know that sounds arrogant but hey, there's a dullness that's been settling in....

Anyhow....I think it's a good idea and a bold attempt to freshen up the thread topics!

I think you've already broken your own rule. There is nothing substantive, new or novel about your idea. It has been suggested numerous times and does not require a thread dedicated to it. Five hours without a response means that it's a dumb idea. I shouldn't have to spell it out for you.

But by changing the subject line over 30 folks have read this in the last 4 minutes as compared to the 14 who read it in the first 5 hours!

It's spreading the word.

Excuse me, but puh-lease. Wicked gets about 5 times as much discussion as the all the other shows combined. Avenue Q usually only gets mentioned as the anti-Wicked. And since when is The Boy From Oz such a hot topic around here? I'd say it gets about as many threads as Wonderful Town. Which is to say, not many.

Anyhoo, such is life. If you want to talk about Caroline so much, bring up a good question about it.

I think it's a dumb idea.....I'm all for the free speech thing myself. If you don't want to read what you feel is topic that's already been posted, then skip over it. Otherwise, don't be telling people what they can and cannot post--beyond non-broadway related stuff.

Thats a pretty idiotic idea. If you don't want to hear about the other shows anymore, just don't read the posts which have subjects concerning them. Just because the Tonys are over, doesn't mean the shows are. Afterall, the purpose of a show is to provide entertainment, and as long as a show continues (or fails) to do this, it is open to discussion.

What a bunch of nonsense. This is a broadway chat board. Everyone should post and talk about whatever shows they want as much as they want. Granted; the Wicked thing is a little obsessive. But ... I would rather that than the rent heads any time.
