A friend of mine went to see PRODUCERS. She corroborated what I thought. The character of Shirley Markowitz is based on what famous lighting designer?

Every movement has a meaning--but what the hell does it mean!

Miriam, This is one example of a cliche--the mannish bull-dyke female stage technical person--being true to life. So a number of female lighting designer come to mind. I don't know however that the character is actually based on any one true individual, only Mel Brooks would know that.

Cheers!
