Great news! LaChuisa goes a little reprise-crazy in Act 2, but this show has some really gorgeous melodies and rather haunting musical complexities. I can't wait to be able to chew on it a bit.

Maybe the days of LaChiusa shows not often getting recorded are long over--which is great because even his lesser work is always revelatory, for me, on CD. I thought this might slip through the cracks--glad it hasn't.
I often questioned how compelling Testa's character was, but this was a daring new musical and Testa was never better. Some of the music is jaw-droppingly beautiful. Even flawed LaChiusa shows are 10 times more interesting than some of the crap being regurgitated these days.

Amen--I still wish somehow we could get recordings of Higher Yellow, Petrified Prince (in particular), Lovers and Friends, even his bizarre sounding Nutcracker (though preferably with the lyrics he wrote, not the Japanese translation...)
I have little doubt Giant is recorded (even if it's an expensive double disc) and I hope soon.
