Question about '96 Grease Revival

I saw this productions (ok... 3 times... don't judge!) but I was looking on ibdb.com and noticed that it closed down for about a month and a half in '97 about 8 months before it closed for good. Anyone remember this, or specifically why??? I know it didn't transfer theaters and I can't think of why else they may have done this.
