This is from the guy that thought Elphaba's Defying Gravity flying scene was on a rope. (thanks to someone's post about the behind the scene from the Wicked Tour, I know now the secret)
If anybody knows, how does that car fly???
It's very difficult to explain, but I'm going to PM you about it - there's a bit of discrepency in terms of letting it get out.

I'm sorry... I tried. It's not easy to explain.

Since you've already had it explained, I won't bother. But just so you know, it's amazing to watch. I saw the show from the front row one night, and it was just...unbelievable. Probably a lot better from farther back too.
From that close, truly, can you see the flight mechanism? It's pretty hard to see during a performance, but I'd assume some of it would be revealed if you sit that close.

They've actually done an amazing job of getting it to blend in. Really, you're so busy watching the actual car and the actors that unless you're looking specifically for how it's flying, I'd imagine it's pretty hard to notice.
That's true. After I learned how it flew, I've been looking for it, so maybe that's why I notice. :-P

It really is very well done, I was sitting there stumped for a while until it was explained to me. Seriously though, it's just so fun to watch though...I felt like I was a little kid at Disney world...as much as I was trying to sit there looking unimpressed. It really did make me grin like an idiot for a while there.

I've sat pretty much every where in that theatre! Of course, it's more noticable when you are sitting in the first couple of rows in the orchestra, but it is hid very well. One time when I was at the show, this man was explaining to his seven year old daughter how it flew. I couldn't help but think "For god's sake, let the child use her imagination! Don't crush her dreams so early on in life!"
