Question about Fan letters and what happens if the show closes

I was just wondering what happens to letters that arrive after a show closes? Do they get sent to the actor? Does the actor go back to the theater the next day after it closes or never returns again??

I know its another random question

The theatres forward them to the actors, normally via their agents.

It can take a while. I know Hugh Panaro only got some of his "Lestat" mail earlier this year.
