I've been wondering how the whole TKTS thing works from the standpoint of the individual B'way shows. Who decides how many tickets are sent over to the TKTS booths? Is there like a set number decided at the beginning of each week, or is it determined every day? Do they send over one big bundle in the morning, or throughout the day? And how do they decide how many tickets to send over (e.g. is it a set percentage of unsold seats)?
Anybody work in a box office (or know someone who does) and know the answers? I've always wondered about this!
I believe that the set number of tickets being sold depends on the day, not the week.
Also, I think the box office decides what and how much to send over depending on what gets sold, and I'm not sure if it is just one big bundle or more can get sent over throughout the time TKTS is open.
More tickets get sent over throughout the day. Therefore, it doesn't matter how early you get in line at the booth.

Most shows have pre-designanted seats that are eligible to be sent to the TKTS booths for sale.
When those specific seats are available, they usually send them over, and sometimes if there is a surplus of available tickets, with permission, the box office can send over additional seats that are not pre-designated TKTS seat locations...
Its total pot luck! ive had fantastic seats at 7.40 and the same at 2.30. its the box office managers decision after the producers check on that days house.
Just wondering if anyone can tell me what shows have been on TKTS lately? I'm going into the city tomorrow and looking for a show on TKTS... and can anyone tell me specifically has Xanadu or A Chorus Line been on TKTS this week at all? Thanks!
