Do they only have shows such as equity/non-equity tours, tryouts for shows wanting to move to Broadway, etc. or do they do community theatre as well?
I was wondering because I noticed on mtishows.com that there is a production of Rent scheduled to perform there in February 2012, and I was under the impression they only did professional productions. Could this be a possible tour or tryout for a Broadway revival?

The 5th Avenue's season is usually a mix of half national tours of new shows and half in-house Equity productions using (mostly) local actors. They also get the occasional out of town try out. (Wedding Singer, Catch Me If You Can, etc.) This year they're getting the tours of In the Heights and Next to Normal but doing Oklahoma and Guys and Dolls on their own.
In my many years of living in Seattle they never had any of the non-equity tours like the Paramount did.
The 2012 MTI listing is almost certainly for a local Equity production.
