I wasn't inferring any criticism, just curious about the rationale. For those of us with the luxury of choosing whether to blend in or stand out, it's an ever-present question.
When I am with my partner's blond, blue-eyed, ski-jump nose, plaid-headband sister, and we're pushing her baby (in a stroller) down the street, I am overwhelmed at the power of the warm embrace of the larger world. The acceptance is incredible. And I live in Chelsea, where the acceptance level of my reality is pretty high.
Then I snap out of it and put on my Jimmy Choos and hit the streets...
