A while ago we were discussing the possibility of the national tour of Rent coming to the Canon. Someone eventually said the deal fell through and it wasn't coming.
Well according to Rent's site that would be true BUT it is listed on Ticketmaster for the Elgin Theatre in May.
Anyone know what's happening?
i know it's coming to Buffalo next season

It is officially booked into the Elgin, with the original Toronto dates.
Tickets went on sale today. It will run at the Elgin for one week. Much better venue for it, IMHO...much more intimate than the Canon.

No, tag, it's not Equity. It's the current non-Eq cast that's coming.
tourboi, I wouldn't call the Elgin "much more intimate". It's not much smaller than the Canon.

Mandi,
Currently booked Dec. 5-10 at Shea's but it's likely that there will be some cast changes by then. Current cast is contracted through the end of August.
Cool, thanks. I'm in Syracuse and I was sad that it wasn't coming near here the first time around.
U may be mixing it w the Winter Garden which is a very intimate venue ( and @ the same locale)
I bought my tickets for Toronto today. It is at the Elgin. There are still good seats left.

I think I'm gonna risk it and just rush the whole weekend.
Will the Toronto run sell out? And if so, soon or am I okay if I hold off on buying my tickets for a couple weeks?
And does the tour usually have rush/lotto/student/etc. tickets?

tag, yes, the tour has a rush policy at every theatre it visits. It's up to the theatre whether or not the rush policy is lotto or line. In the past, when the Rent tour was at the old Pantages, and when the Canadian cast was at the Royal Alex, it was a line at both. Usually the theatre doesn't know til about a week before the run opens which they will use but you could call and ask anyway.
Who knows if it will sell out. In every city they've been in so far since the start of February, almost every show has sold out, including at the Fox in St. Louis which seats 4100 people! But who knows about Toronto. With the new and renewed interest due to the movie, I'm sure Networks is hoping that it sells out everywhere! Check each day with Ticketmaster and see where you can get the best available seats. That'll give you some idea of what's happening. Rush will probably be very busy. Toronto has a ton of Rentheads from the past who will likely surface again for this run.

Eek. Busy rush is a good and bad thing. Hopefully if I rush all weekend I should be able to see it at least once?
Should I buy 1 ticket just in case? The line in London was really small.
I plan on doing the rush, but I also bought tickets for one show just in case. I figured better safe than sorry.
If you're gonna buy a ticket, you shouls get one ASAP. I checked the "best availalble" seating on ticketmaster the day after they went on sale, and it had seats available around EE. As of this a.m. (3 days later), the best seat out of all the shows was row C. And now its at row G, 10 hours later.
As far as the lower price bracket seats go, the best seats right now are like the 4th row from the back (pretty sucky). And the lotto's only $20, so I'm betting that a LOT of people are going to "hold off" until the day of in similar hopes- there might be quite a few people there.
