My son found some Playbills tonight and handed me the Chicago Rent Playbill. I searched, but did not actually find "swing choir" in the Who's Who.
The RENT cast has already changed. There are 5 people staying on with the tour but starting Sept. 26 new people take over, and the tour continues well into next summer!
by the way, its the best reviewed RENT tour ever, and its selling out EVERYWHERE! Good for RENT, of any show I know, no other one deserves it more.

Iammyownmusical, there are actually more than five staying with the tour: Chante, Tracy, Michael, Jenna, Sheila, Warren, and Mimi.
broadway_show_fan, who are you? Sheila went to my college too. We were all so excited when she got the part! I haven't seen her in Rent but I've heard her sing while she was at school. A few minor flaws but obviously she's good enough to stay in the cast! Yay Sheila!

I'm seeing the brand new cast on their first stop in my hometown, Melbourne,FL, on the 27th! I'm really excited!

OK...I hope you were kidding because this statement is 100% false. I have seen this cast and while it wasn't god-awful, it is nowhere near the best reviewed tour ever. Not even close.
hmm. i'm going to see it in november.
maybe the cast will change before then. lol. (jk)

Ok, so I saw the new cast in Melbourne, FL on the 27th. This is my first review and first time seeing Rent, so here we go.
Cast:
MELVIN BELL, III (Angel) - Fantastic! I cannot say more great things about this guy. Completely mesmorizing.
DECLAN BENNETT (Roger) - Weakest link in the cast. A lot of people had different opinions of him, but I found him to be very good. Not the best, but still great. He's a Brit and at a lot of times in the show, his accent came out. I just wish he didn't hide it because it was confusing with he did both American and English accents. He seemed very nervous, but it's understandable. Acting choices were great. Pick up his solo CD at the merchandise table, it's something not to be missed!
KRYSTAL BROWN (Mimi) - I was very glad to hear that there would be a different Mimi and I was not disappointed. I love this girl! Her "Out Tonight" was just so much fun and she is one heck of a performer! Chemistry with Roger was great as well.
CHANTE CARMEL FRIERSON (Joanne) - Her voice, omg this woman can SING! This cast is so strong and she is no exception. We're Okay was genious.
MICHAEL IFILL (Benny) - I believe he was on the last cast as well. Wonderful, just wonderful. No complaints here.
HARLEY JAY (Mark) - Favorite performer of this show. He just has this presence on stage that's so infectious. His acting choices were impeccable - there are so many moments that he made his own and he was hysterical. But I also love his versatility - when he was serious, he was heartbreaking. Singing was on the entire night. Tango: Maureen was the funniest thing ever.
TRACY McDOWELL (Maureen) - She's the perfect Maureen. I usually hated this song, but I don't think I've laughed so much in my life than I did during "Over the Moon."
WARREN G. NOLEN, JR. (Collins) - His voice makes me melt. The "I'll Cover You Reprise" was the best number in the show by far. I balled so much during this song. He made me believe him.
ENSEMBLE - So much energy, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I heard the vocals were kind of off the night before, but that night they were marvelous. I love great ensembles in shows and a lot of times I found myself looking at the ensemble more than I usually do during a show.
BAND - The coolest people ever.
STANDOUT SONGS:
I'll Cover You Reprise
Over the Moon
Christmas Bells
Voice Mail #5
Contact (Angel's solo was AAAAMAZING)
La Vie Boheme
Tango Maureen
Finale B
Seasons of Love (Mimi the soloist is the best I've heard)
Out Tonight
The only songs that had problems were:
What You Own - harmonies were just not on that night.
One Song Glory - some notes could not be reacher but I think over time, this song will keep getting better.
STAGEDOOR: There were about 40ish people there. Of course my friends and I sprinted there and were the first people. Most of the cast came out with the exception of Warren. I got everyone's autograph but with the sheer number of people, I only got a picture with Harley (which was totally fine :) ) Harley is the nicest guy in person and stayed there until everyone got an autograph or a picture.
This cast is not to be missed. Everyone is just superb! I had one of the best times in my life that night! Go buy your tickets now!

i also wanted to add what my sister thought- she thought that Crystal and Tracy were standouts as Mimi and Maureen, and that Chante was a little weak as Joanne, and that Declan and Harley were great, but not as good as Tim and Matt as Roger and Mark
other than that, everyone at school is now talking about how awesome RENT is, and how it is the best thing ever :P
so everyone very much enjoyed it!

I saw it in Tallahassee On Wed. night and I thought it was great. I agree with what you said for the most part, especially about Harley Jay. I wish I had gotten to stage door it, but no one knew where the door was!
yah, so i just found out that tickets for indy in november are over $200...what the hell?
singinmysong13-
Thanks for the review!
Well it seems as though this cast may be better than the last. I hope I get to see them in the spring when I see the tour!

Justr saw the tour last night in Louisville, and really enjoyed it.
The Roger was the weakest link, but Mimi and Maureen were great.'

yea, i saw it in louisville last night too and it was much better than some of the other times i've seen it. krystal brown was such a pleasent suprise as was tracy mcdowell. chantel was also better than i was expecting. overall, really good!
lizzie...thank you soo much.
i seriously threw a fit when i found those $200 ones. maybe now i can actually get tickets for a decent price.
You probably just found a scalper's site. Hint: don't google except for the actual theatre's website, and go from there. Your first results will be scalpers, as I'm sure you now know.
Saw it in Louisville last night as well! I finally got to sit in rush seats for my 3rd time seeing the show. So good for that.
Chante and Tracy were definitely the best in the cast. They had amazing chemistry and really blew the roof off the place. I was the first person to "moo" and Tracy pointed right at me, it was very cool.
Everyone else really held their own and exceeded any expectations that I had of them. Except Declan as Roger...something was just missing from his performance.

Still confused about where those $200 Indy tickets are...
Anyway, I saw the show in Louisville today. I actually liked Declan a lot. It took me a second to get into his voice, but I might have to say I've found a Roger I actually like. Doesn't hurt that he's a Brit, either!
yah, i did google it...it made me so mad. but yes, they were over $200.
