man that stinks, i heard the last non equity tour wasn't very good
Hearing and actually seeing it for yourself are very different my friend.
The last tour was the best tour RENT has ever seen, and also the most successful.
The tour, many people have said, is a better show than the Broadway production.
The tour will start in october, and play through most of 2008. Casting is almost complete. And dates are already coming in. A few (fantastic) people from the last tour are returning. make sure you see it just for the girl playing Mimi...she is STUNNING.

Declan Bennett came out of the last RENT tour. Enough said.

the last touring cast was amazing. and actually Harley Jay (who played Mark) and Declan Bennett (who played roger) are going to play the roles on broadway when adam and anthony leave.
Yes indeed. Although, WHY Harley got offered Broadway is a completely different tale altogether.
Tracy McDowell will also be playing Maureen on Broadway as well. She was supposed to start on July 30 with Adam and Anthony, but things happened regarding the contract...and Nicolette extended.

Yes, and I'm sure the movie alerting all of teenybopper Middle America to Rent had nothing to do with the success, it was all about the talent.

I imagine Harley got offered Broadway because he was miraculously good at least twice on the tour. Once when I saw him, the other when TPTB did.
No one said the movie didn't help boost the tour.
Craww: You must have seen Harley the FEW times he ever managed to actually perform.
I have heard great, great things about Jennifer (Mimi). I was lucky enough to see Krystal Brown, whom Jennifer took over for. I can't wait to see the show in October and November (Lexington, KY and Bloomington, IN).

Lucky me. I mean, I'm sure he'll be terrible on Broadway, just to spite me. But I'm a little skeptical of the prevailing attitude towards him, from certain tour cast BFFs and know it alls. I'm sure you understand.
BFFs? Do you mean BNFs?
Oh Craww...you're so witty. Why can't I be more like you?
I never said he was a BAD Mark. Don't make things up. No one said he was terrible. I happen to think he does a very good Mark, not my favorite, but a good one.
Ad for being a cast BFF...hahaha, I could care less about that. I'm just sharing information that I know. I AM good friends with a few people on the tour, and...I'm involoved with the tour. So, I'm not some random fan girl who thinks their married to the entire cast. When I open my mouth to speak...I actually know what I'm talking about.

Does Rent have BNFs anymore? I suppose some would like to consider themselves that, yeah.
I was more referring to those who are friends with tour cast members and mention it ad nauseum in their postings.
I never said he was a BAD Mark. Don't make things up.
I didn't say you said he was a bad Mark, so how can I be making something up? I said there was a certain attitude, and there is. It's easy to infer "BAD" from "not even even performing and unworthy of joining the Broadway cast", too.

When I saw it in Buffalo, Harley was there up until Tango Maureen. He was really sick apparently, and had to have his standby go in (I can't remember his name but he looked like Harry Potter). I couldn't tell by his singing that he was sick But his lines gave it away.
Poor guy.

ER must be asleep. If this upcoming tour is not a union, then I suggest that the producers limit it to small houses with small ticket prices.

Why do you say that. The last tour was non equity, and had mostly sell out audience. It played the Pantages in California (3,500) seats...and was SOLD OUT completely.
There is obviously a demand for the show, so why should they limit themselves?
Because they're charging the same as an Equity tour, without the excuse of having to pay Equity salaries, and the massive difference stays in the producers' pockets. So while your buddies in the cast were making a couple hundred bucks a week, Michael Grief was paid $10,000 for the 4 days he spent directing the new cast.

Not to get into the Equity vs. Non-Equity debate again, but the price of tour tickets is not the same as it is for most Equity tours. In some cities, that may be the case but in the vast majority of cities, the ticket prices are lower. In addition to that, it is the venue which sets ticket prices, not the tour itself.
And, again, IAMOM, please stop posting things about Tracy. You don't know what you're talking about.

I thought the last tour was great! I can't wait to see Declan on Broadway.
I don't know about Tracy, though. I mean, I liked her Maureen the first couple of times, but I got sick of it after...hmm...six different cities.
I love RENT and have seen the show aver 30 times. I dont mean to be a downer but, I have to say that this last touring company was AWFULL!!!!! It wasnt like a few people in the cast were bad...... the whole cast sucked!!!!!
I am still a huge fan of the show but if it is the same cast that I saw a few months ago..... dont waste your time seeing the show! It really was that bad....
