I know this is incredibly random, but hopefully some of you RENT fans will know the answer to this...
In the second act of RENT, the original cast recording has the lyric "you can take the girl out of hicksville, but you cant take the hicksville out of the girl." However, I have seen RENT with touring companies several times, and they say "you can take the girl out of Jersey, but you can take the Jersey out of the girl."
Does anyone know what they say on broadway now and why this change was made? thanks
I don't see the difference between the 2 really...
lol don't shoot me I'm from Jersey, people form here are the only ones aloud to say it!

Maybe it's because there are actual towns named Hicksville in several states!

Becasue Hicksville refers to Hicksville, NY which most New Yorkers would get but they changed it to Jersey so that tour audiences wouldnt confuse it which hicksville being slang for the south
As of last week, they're still using "Hicksville" at the Nederlander.

Hey everyone!
I just wanted to confirm that WhatDoINeedWithLove? is right about the Hicksville thing. The info on that is actually on the official RENT page
