I have tickets to see the tour on the 20 and can not be more excited! I have heard nothing but amazing things about this cast. I do have a question though.
What are the major differences between the tour and the broadway show. This is concerning costumes, sets, blocking, anything else in general.
Tour is fun, fabulous, energetic. And make sure to say hi to camerangel when you're there!
Differences - costumes, well the fuzzy pink bra girl now where a cutoff baby tee...Andy Meeks is wearing Anthony Rapp's jacket (well, he said "a member of the OBC", so, well...)...Maureen wears the starry jeans, but with a tight white tank top for OTM (I think it's common to change that costume though, isn't it?).
The set is smaller. If your stage is really small, they won't even have a "wall" for Mimi in OT (so lean really closely and see if Tallia's about to fall off the catwalk if you don't have a wall!). If the stage is small, they may not include, god forbid, the fence for Contact, which CATSNYrevival will concur, is just tragic. Blocking's the same though. (And be sure to notice Dan Rosenbaum pretty much throw Andy across the stage during Goodbye Love - I got scared for that guy!) The key doesn't fall down a trap door, but into the orchestra pit, or, I think the ground.
Some words are different - Instead of "take the Hicksville outta the girl", they say "Jersey". In Mark's eulogy to Angel, he says Angel showed the tourists how to get to the "Statue of Liberty" instead of "Circle Line". I think Andy still says "Ted Koppel" instead of "CNN".
You'll have a wonderful time!
"Maureen wears the starry jeans, but with a tight white tank top for OTM (I think it's common to change that costume though, isn't it?)"
She wore the 3/4 sleeve shirt with the picture of something or other on it (the blue-ish one) for OTM here. The tank top she wore for TMOLM.
Btw, TFIG? You're going to have SO MUCH FUN when you see this cast. They are beyond amazing. I'm seeing them again next month in St. Louis and absolutely cannot wait. :)
Oh yeah, you're right. She wears the blue 3/4 sleeve top, and then the white tank. I stand corrected. *hangs head in shame*
I'm seeing them on the 23rd! I can't wait.

Type A Tiff, that scared me too! Andy Meeks is sortof a Hobbit and Dan Rosenbaum is extremely tall (in comparison at least). I loved when they'd sing in each other's faces like in Rent.
The cast IS amazing. Mimi especially. Roger was a little weak compared to Mimi when I saw it, but still amazing. Mark's take on the role is different, not a copy of the OBC recording which I enjoyed. Benny is also awesome (they all are)!! I could not have asked for a better cast for the first time of seeing my favorite show. Enjoy!!
This Cast absolutely ROCKS..
Andy is not a hobbit. he's like 5'7 or something like that.. Dan is jsut UBER tall.. he's 6'3".. The two of them have really great chemistry on stage.. it's easy to believe that they are best friends.. They actually become the characters and can get carried away.. Like Tiff said Dan throws Andy pretty hard in Good-Bye Love.. One night Andy almost got hurt..
You say you will be there the 20th? cool, you will have to say hi..

Woohoo for Fredericton, NB on January 19! Anyone else?
Andy's 5'7. (I bet he's really like, 5'5 but rounds up.
) Goodbye Love is really awesome to see.

Oh my gosh! I just found out that the Rent tour was coming to my local theatre this February! I have to get tickets. I might see it for my birthday. Yay! Is it any good?
In short, YES. I take it you like in Ohio?
Okay, I feel like a bad Renthead for asking this, but what do you mean by "wall"? Do you mean the railing? Or is there some kind of barrier up there that we don't see? I always wondered about that...
The "wall" is the "brick wall" or whatnot behind Mimi when she's singing out tonight. It's the backdrop, but sometimes if there isn't room on stage, it's just a curtain, and when he turns around and does that grind, there's nothing behind there. Aaah, indeed.
Thanks everybody. I cannot wait! Do we know the reasons behind the changes in lyrics/script? Is it because people outside of NYC won't know the references?
Cam, your're going that day? Are you from Maryland?

I've tried to visit to the Rent Tour website, and every time I do it tells me that I need a Flash plugin that I already have. Does anyone else have this problem?
Yeah, try going to: http://www.rentthetour.com/html/index2.htm
If you're trying to see the schedule, that website really sucks.
Oh, okay. I thought you meant in front of her.

Andy Meeks is 5'7 if he's lucky. I'm 5'6 and he seemed to be basically my height. The height difference between Dan and Andy works wonderfully during their exchange in Goodbye Love.
Everyone else already covered the main differences between the tour and Broadway but I feel that I must had that the tour has SO MUCH more energy than the Broadway cast.

Heh, maybe 5'7 with good posture? (He told me he's 5'7 - you know how guys are. hehe)
MUCH better than current Bway cast (from the members I've seen).
