I agree about the sound in the Fox theatre. The acoustics there are a nightmare. Unfortunately, there really isn't any other stage to mount legit theatre there (some ugly business between the Fox theatre people and the Shuberts or someone).
I saw Dreamgirls there about ten years ago and Holliday was too old to play the role then as well. But that really doesn't seem to matter as the summer series there is rolling Dreamgirls out to capitalize on the urban market in Atlanta. Unfortunately, the audience ends up turning the show into a "mama on the couch play".
Current Saying: What do you mean it isn't enough being pretty? Have you seen my headshots?!?

"...the audience ends up turning the play into a 'mama on the couch play.'"
This is the definitive, last word on Ms. Holliday's decision to "revive" her 20-something year old performance. It's a collision of theatrical values, and light most collisions, destructive, not creative.

I mean, all of her money comes from Dreamgirl productions. I was suprised to find her bio so long because this show is all she's done - basically.

She had a pretty voice, but nothing stunning - which, again, fits the role perfectly. Her acting left a little to be desired though. But people went nuts for her at the curtain call.
