First licensed production opens on October 18 in Göteborg, Sweden at the Göteborgsoperan.

However, Disney once said that the Swedish premiere is in Stockholm. Did they scrap Stockholm, or will there be 2 productions? I speak Danish, so I could understand about 80% of "Mary Poppins" if I go to Sweden to see it, I doubt I will, but it does sound very superkaffiryteflanisötomasigrafisk!
They're also bringing it to Denmark (COPENHAGEN JANUARY '09), Finland (HELSINKI JANUARY '09), and Hungary (BUDAPEST SEPTEMBER '09). If all goes well, they will probably do Icelandic and Norwegian productions. They're also bringing it to every continent except for Antarctica, and they're making a Dutch version, as well as a South African version, a Chinese version, an Argentine version, a Brazilian version, and an Australian version.
On the bottom of the Swedish website, it says "This production is presented by permission of JOSEF WEINBERGER LIMITED
on behalf of MUSIC THEATRE INTERNATIONAL of New York"

With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-
"Not Barker, Todd is the only person I've ever known who could imitate Katherine Hepburn...in print." -nmartin-

Posted: 5/5/08 at 9:29pmI think there is some confusion here. The rights, at least in the United States, will most certainly not be released while not only is the Broadway production still running strong, but a high profile national is being launched next year.
