Saw her in Nunsense in San Fran way back in 1988, a hell of a funny woman. RIP

Phyllis Diller was a trail brazer for for female comedians. Without her we would not have Joan Rivers, Ellen DeGeneres, Roseanne, Tina Fey, Kathy Griffin, Wanda Sykes, Margaret Cho, Kristin Wiig and countless other female comedians. I hope The New York Times puts her obituary on the front page. She certainly earned that spot.

Totally agree, Bob3. Both she and Joan Rivers have set the trail for so many who have come after. R.I.P Phyllis and thanks!!

When I was a kid, I used to love seeing Phyllis Diller on The Ed Sullivan Show and other variety shows. My favorite joke of hers in those days was: "I've learned the only way I can wake up with a smile on my face is to go to bed with a coat hanger in my mouth."
She made us laugh for decades. RIP Miss Diller.

The New York Times put her obit on the front page, center, partially above the fold.
A friend once said her Hello, Dolly was the best he ever saw -- and he saw a lot of them.
"When I was born, the doctor slapped everybody!"
