Think Rosario will play Silvia or Julia?
Julia is the role intended for a latina actress. Sylvia is usually african-american in this adaption.
I'm SO excited to see this.
DAMN- why will i not be town for this!? GAH

someone must have really liked her vocals in the Rent film...gives us something to look forward to! now if i could only make it up to NYC to see THIS!!!
She really is perfect casting for this. A friend and I were playing "cast that musical" and we both thought Daphne Rubin Vega -- ten years ago. And well, that's what we got!

i'm wildly interested to hear her sing...i think she's a wonderful actor.
is your comparison of Rosario to Daphne due to vocal quality or just the fact that they played the same role?
Just the fact that ten years later Rosario Dawson is playing Daphne Rubin Vega's role in Rent.

that's what i assumed....thanks for the clarification michaelb :)
this is great news! rosario must be impressing producers with her vocals to be cast so soon in another musical project so quickly after wrapping up her role as "mimi" in "rent".
it will be great to hear her singing voice live in a staged musical setting before the release of "rent" in november.
the lady is obviously hot and very much in demand.
i'm very happy for her. she's proving to be a versatile performer.
but can she cook? LOL
i believe "verona" to be galt macdermot's follow up to the hugely succesful "hair".
the original production starred raul julia, diana davila, jonelle allen and clifton davis. stockard channing was in the chorus.
i have the original cast recording on cd.
decca released it a couple of years ago after being out-of-print for years.
like "hair" it has a very infectious pop-rock music score.
can't wait to hear who will be cast in the other two leads.
Well she's also smart because Julia in TWO GENTS is an over the top comedic role. It couldn't be more different then RENT or most of her film roles. Has anyone seen her do physical comedy?
P.S. Do we know for sure that Norm Lewis is playing Valentine? He could also be playing the Duke.

at this point i think she can do anything...
ahhhh. So need to see this.
Theatremania confirms Norm Lewis as Valentine and adds Megan Lawrence, Paolo Montablan and recent Julliard Grad, Oscar Issac in the role that made Raul Julia a star.
Who will stop the show with "Night Letter" as Sylvia?

Who is Slyvia? LOL
Lol -- you just know they've been waiting until they've seen that question on message boards before they tell us.
This is one of my favorites. I like the cast so far. I wonder who they will cast as "Sylvia".
