"Rags" revival at Goodspeed

I enjoyed this interview with Stephen Schwartz and was interested to read this part:

"I don't think this has been announced, but Goodspeed is going to do Rags next year, and that will be extensively revised. For that revival, I'm happy for that opportunity to revisit that, because that show has always been problematic. We've never really gotten it right, so this is another chance to try to do so."

I've never seen this performed but I do like the score. I know there are some "Rags" fans here - what do you think of this news? What changes do you think would need to be made to the show to make it work better?

Hm, good point. I guess Schwartz thinks it is! I guess it all depends on how much is changed. Goodspeed has in fact announced it and is calling it "a new adaptation by David Thompson." Based on his bio on BroadwayWorld it looks like he's done many adaptations/book revisions, for shows including Flora, The Red Menace, No Strings, and 70, Girls, 70, as well as writing the book for The Scottsboro Boys.
