Since the last time we told a story together went over oh-so well with our darling beacon, we decided we'd try out an abridged version on anyone who might care to read about our random run-in with Gavin.
Anyway, we happened to be downtown to see the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, and we were heading back through Times Square as the shows were letting out. We didn't really feel like going home yet, and since etheb is from Ann Arbor, Michigan, she's made it a mission to meet the actors on Broadway who went to UM and were in shows when they were there. So we were walking by the Marquis, and decided to stop. Harvey came out the stage door, too, by the way, but I wasn't in a particularly outgoing mood this evening, so we didn't stop him.
So Gavin came out.... I think I need to take a moment to discuss just how adorable this man is. I mean, I wish he'd cut his hair, but he has one of the most gorgeous smiles I have EVER seen. Anyway, I was feeling really shy, and since I've never seen him in anything other than the Eloise movies, I didn't really know what to say. I let etheb approach him, and just sort of stood back and watched...

Posted: 12/4/04 at 1:01amso, after being tongue-tied for a few seconds, i managed to get out that i was from Ann Arbor, and his face just totally lit up. he called over a friend he had there, who was also from Ann Arbor. I asked what he was in there, and some of the shows i mentioned that i hadn't seen. He goes, "that's because i'm old and you're young!" I said, "didn't you graduate in '98?" he looked a bit surprised that i knew that, and asked when i graduated. and i said, "oh no, i was twelve." it was amusing. anyways, i most definitley saw him do harold hill in the music man, and, of course much later, realized that i actually AUDITIONED to be one of the kids in that very show. go figure. anyways, emcee is going to relate the rest of the non-UM stuff...

Because I'm a detail-whore.
Anywho, yeah. Gavin's eyes totally almost bugged out of his head with excitement when she brought up UM. When they started talking about the actual shows he was in, I took a couple of steps forward to at least listen, but I basically just stood there shivering, smiling. He was so bubbly, and seemed really happy to be talking about this stuff. He finished that bit, and asked what our names were. Etheb told him both of our names, and I managed to say that I was *not* from Michigan.
So we took a picture... Gavin hugged us in really tight, after making sure everyone was in perfect position... tres cute. 
Gavin: did you guys see the show tonight?
Me: Oh, no not yet, we were just passing through... just decided to stop by. Soon, though, I promise!
Etheb told him that we just really wanted to see him, at which he seemed really flattered.
Gavin: Come see it soon! And come back and say hi!
We don't quite feel like posting ourselves, but Gavin looks adorable, so etheb, post him!
